Years in Business
Our History
by Brett Klein (Founder & CE0)
Barts Carts started from Humble Beginnings.
It was while I was a CSUN student and working at Farrells Ice Cream Parlor (Granada Hills) that I came up with the idea of serving ice cream sundaes at kid’s birthday parties, just to get me through college. Equipped with my trusted Toyota pickup truck, a pager, and my very first credit card (from Sears), with a $300 limit, I bought a box freezer and proceeded to construct (in my garage) a metal red and white carnival style housing for the freezer. I added a festive umbrella, and went in search of my first customers. Little did I know back then, that 30 years later I am still loving this company that I started to pay for college.
I have enjoyed every minute of building Barts Carts. I love metalwork (I built a lot of the food carts myself over the years), and I love LA. I get to meet people from all over town, and from all walks of life. I consider myself to be a lucky guy, doing a job I love and doing it with an amazing team that have been with me so long, we are like family. I like to think that we are a “mom & pop” business.
Barts Carts continuous to grow and bring fun and cheer to events all over LA. Thanks to our amazing customers and staff, we have survived COVID and are busy rebuilding an even better Bart’s Carts.
